The Digit-al Dozen Redoes Art - Peonies

Hi lovelies!

After the poppies, I was in the mood for more florals. Hence, I stole Marisa's approach of doing a week of flowers! She did amazing freehand florals from different decades; I'll do florals from different ages and art movements. Today I have peonies from the Middle Ages:

Konrad von Altstettetn and Biance Lancia in the Codex Manesse

I started with a base of LynBDesigns "Defender of the Downtrodden", a beautiful beautiful subtle nude holo:

Some careful investigation revealed the flowers in the Codex to be Peonies. The Peony was an important flower during the Middle Ages in Europe: Peony was thought by some to have been created by the moon and to shine at night, protecting shepherds and their flocks, and the harvest as well. It drove away tempests and evil spirits. Josephus recommends picking the peony root in the same way that mandrake roots was harvested, using a dog. (source)

I used BPS green stamping polish, a detail brush, a toothpick and China Glaze "Igniting Love" to paint the peonies. For the hearts I mixed up some polishes, because I had forgotten my yellow (I wasn't home).

I'm posting this one day late, because while I was typing this post, I fell asleep. Life's sometimes so hectic, that I just can't keep up!

Now go check out the other ladies' creations!
